Pre-Christmas catch-up

Hello all, I hope you have had a great Christmas.

I am playing catch up with the reports, and I apologise for any delay.

On Sunday, December 12 a Round Robin was held as the green had no scheduled league fixtures. Six members attended and played singles, Steve Parker took first place with 25, Andy Kennish second with 23 and Jo Smith third with 22 points.

On Wednesday, December 15 again a Round Robin was held, and twenty members took to the green, each were drawn into doubles, playing in two groups, one with yellow jacks and the other with black jacks.

The winners of the black jacks Philippa Taylor and Sid McKnight took victory by 13 points, scoring 44 in total, leaving Alan Phair and Alec Taylor in second place on 31 points.

The winners of the yellow jacks did not have as big a point difference as they only won by one point, but it was a win all the same. Steve Parker and Gillian Jopson scored 33 points, leaving Paul Callister and Margie Tasker on 32.

The J&M Lee competition was held on Saturday, December 18 with a total of 22 members attending. All members were drawn into pairs and played a Round Robin format.

The black jacks group saw James Teare and Paul Callister take the win by four points, scoring 29 from Derek Allen and Jenny Moore who scored 25. The yellow jacks group saw the victory going to Tricia Bull and Andy Kennish who scored 36 leaving second place on 31 to Alec Taylor and Sue Gawne.

The final were the winners of each group playing five ends. The first two ends saw Tricia and Andy in the lead 3-0, but James and Paul came fighting back and went on to score eight points in the final three ends meaning they became the outright winners with the final score of 8-3.

The total amount raised on the day was £135.50 which will go to Peel RNLI.

Could I take this opportunity on behalf of the committee to thank all members for their contribution throughout the season, and to our sponsor Pronto Plumbing, and wish you a happy and healthy 2022.
