Ladies’ over 60’s league Thursday 28 July

It was not a great morning weather-wise in the Trend sponsored ladies’ over 60’s league on Thursday 28 July, but Douglas got the majority of the rain and had to postpone their match. The other five matches went ahead, Castletown relishing the conditions and posting a maximum against Mooragh Park, for whom Peggy Freeman put up most resistance reaching 17 against Sheila Preston. It was Jenny Cain for Breagle who spoiled Port Erin’s party in the “local derby”, while Lynda Clarke was the fly in the ointment for league leaders Port St Mary A. Peel Sunset had a 4-2 win over Port St Mary B, the two winners for the Southerners being Brenda Hawkard and Roma Ware, while it could not have been much closer at Ballaugh, where both teams won three games, two to single figures, the home side coming through by a single point.
