JMS Veterans’ Shield
It was a fine morning as Peel Sunset travelled to Onchan for their quarter-final of the JMS Shield. Peel had a 5 point advantage on handicap and after the first three games they seemed to be well on their way with a lead of 71-52 (including handicaps), but in an exciting second half Onchan slowly clawed their way back, led by Joyce Gardiner’s win to single figures. Lynda Wilson and Mary Moffatt fought well for the westerners, both reaching 17 against Libby Andrade and Lynda Clarke respectively, but Onchan came out on top by the narrowest of margins to progress to the semi-finals in September.
