Ladies Open Age League  : Fixture 11, 29 May 2026.   Continuing on their good form, Castletown A won 8-1, dropping only  seven points (182-126) away to Breagle Glen A. Lone winner for the Breagle ladies was Linda Dawson who won to 14 with teammate Alison Stockham just missing out on a win when she lost to 20 against Stella Watterson.   Alison Kearsley and Hannah Drewett for ‘Town’ both won their games to single figures.  Another good performance saw Marown A win 7-2 (172-121) at  home against Peel. Lynda Cadamy, Lyn Bolton and Jayne Smith all won to single figures for the Crosby ladies as did Lynda Wilson for Peel.  Peel’s other winner was Val Allwood who won to 19.  Castletown B also won 7-2 (169-115) at home to Breagle Glen B with four of the Town ladies winning to single figures.  Two winners for Breagle were Karolina Urbaniak and Pauline Worrall who both won to 11.  Closest game saw Castletown’s Melody Marsh just pip Voirrey Curphey 21-18.  Home derby between Ballaugh B&A resulted in a 7-2 win (161-117) for the A ladies.  Gail Curphey and Elaine Fenton for the B team and Rose Waterworth and Cath Harvey for the A team all won to single figures. Closest game of the match resulted in a 21-16 win for ‘A’ team lady Sherriee Pedley.  Douglas won 5-4 (167-137) at home against Marown B.  Harley Garrett for the villa ladies was the only player to win to single figures. Marown’s Martha Butler had a good battle with Emma Sayle eventually crossing the line 21-17. Local derby between Mooragh Park at home against South Ramsey resulted in a 5-4 win for Mooragh but South won on points (156-144) mainly in part to Jenny Moore and Lauren Groen being the only  players to win to single figures.  Katie Johnson for the Mooragh ladies had a nip and tuck game with Jackie Murley with Katie getting the point needed to win 21-20.

Ladies Over 60s league :  On Tuesday morning (9 June), Ballaugh A took no pity on their B team when they won their home derby 6-0 (126-66) with three of the A ladies winning their games to single figures.  Two closest games of the match resulted in 21-17 wins for Rose Waterworth and Alison Millard.  South Ramsey A also scored a full house away at Mooragh Park B (126-41).  Even though the South ladies all won to single figures, scoreline did not reflect on how close some of the ends were.  Peel Sunset also put in a very good home performance winning 5-1 (123-50) against Breagle Glen C with all five the Peel ladies wins being won to single figures.  Lone winner for Breagle was Gwen Tuck who won to 18.  The Nobles ladies again put in a solid performance winning 4-2 dropping only five points (121-92) at home against Finch Hill.  Two winners for Finch were Brenda Williams who won to 18 and Sue Caley who won to 19.  South Ramsey B were at  home to neighbours Mooragh Park A and although South won 4-2, they lost the match on points (93-90).  Two winners for Mooragh, Janet Monk and Elaine Slack, both won to single figures as did Sue Collier for the south ladies.  Two closest games saw 21-16 wins for South’s Ann Gale and Jackie Murley.  Breagle Glen B also won 4-2 (101-92) at home against Castletown B.  Jenny Cain for Breagle plus Linda Dobinson and Marie Ashurst for ‘Town’ all won to single figures with Judith Moore just missing out making the scoreline three-all when she lost to 18 against Jean Thackrah.  Another 4-2 win (116-90) was achieved by Marown away to Onchan with  Lynda Cadamy for the Crosby ladies being the only player to win to single figures.  Two winners for Onchan were Maureen Payne who won to 14 and Jane Lothian who won to 18.   Castletown A drew three all at home against Breagle Glen A, but the Town ladies won on points (107-101).  All games went into double figures with Trish Bull and Caroline Whitehead for the visitors, plus Sue Peach for the Town ladies all winning their games 21-16.

Castletown  A were on impressive form last Friday evening winning  8-1 (186-118) away to Douglas with four of their games being won to single figures.  Sole winner for Douglas was Harley Garrett who won to 18 against Hilary Kermode whilst Harley’s Mum, Paula, nearly claimed another win for the home side when she lost to 20 against Jenny Saunders.  Two other close games resulted in a 21-19 win for Alison Kearsley and a 21-18 win for Anne Oates.  Marown A also had a good 6-3 away win (177-147) to Ballaugh A, keeping them in touching distance of the Castletown A ladies.  All games in this match went into double figures with the three lowest winning scores were 21-14 wins for Crosby ladies Lyn Bolton, Lynda Cadamy and Zoe Pearson.  Three winners for Ballaugh were Alison Quaggan who won 21-20 against Clare Cooper, Rose Waterworth who won to 14 against Rebekah Kelly  and Michele Cubbon who won to 17 against Philippa Taylor.  Another relatively high scoring match was by Marown B who won 6-3 (172-148) at home against Ballaugh B.  The only player to win to single figures was Crosby’s Lil Smith who won to 3.  Three winners for Ballaugh were Natalie Cubbon who won to 19, Elaine Fenton who won to 10 and Gail Curphey who after a tussle with Lillie Barrett eventually won 21-17.  Another tough game resulted in a 21-20 win for Marown’s Lisa Pugh against  Alison Millard.  South Ramsey put in a solid home performance winning 7-2 (169-128) against Breagle Glen A. Lauren Groen and Fiona Kennish for the south ladies, plus Trish Bull for the visitors all won to single figures.  The other winner for Breagle was Margaret Tasker who won to 13 against Joyce Ogden.  Closest game of the match saw Kim Hargraves just get over the line 21-19 against Alison Stockham.  Nobles travelled to Breagle Glen B coming away with a 5-4 win (149-136).  Erin-Rose Woodward and Voirrey Curphey for Breagle, plus Joanne Kelly and Keri Hampson for the Nobles ladies all won to single figures.  Three closest games saw Belinda Barnfather for Nobles win to 15 against Elaine Hawkins with Pauline Worrall and Jacqui Elliott for the home team both winning to 14 against Margaret Swindlehurst and Liz Vipond.  The previous evening Mooragh Park made their way to Castletown B coming away with a solid 7-2 win (174-139) with Janet Monk for the visitors being the only player to win to single figures.  Two winners for the Town ladies were Susan Kerruish who won to 11 against Katie Johnson and Marie Ashurst who won to 16 against Grayce Blencoe.  Mooragh’s Deborah Taylor and Shannon McMullan both had nip and tuck games before winning to 19 against Judith Moore and Barbara Young.

Remaining match from fixture 13 was played last Wednesday morning which saw South Ramsey B put in a solid away performance against Breagle Glen C winning 4-2 (110-85).  South’s Sue Collier and Jackie Murley plus Wyn Collister for the home team all won to single figures.  Two tough games resulted in 21-20 wins for Breagle’s Elaine MacFarlane against Lesley Murray and South’s Julie Stephens against Steph Swift.  The following morning fixture 14 took place which saw the Nobles ladies convincingly win 6-0 (126-60) away to Ballaugh B with three of their ladies winning to single figures.  Just missing out on a win for the home team was Gill Clarke who lost to 20 against Jo Smith.  Finch Hill had a good 5-1 home win (119-59) against a one player short Mooragh Park B with Iris Kermode and Sue Caley for Finch winning to single figures.  Stopping a full house was Lynda Brew who won to 14 against Angela Crellin.  Another 5-1 home win was achieved by Breagle Glen A against South Ramsey B (118-69) with three players from the home side winning to single figures. Jackie Murley for the visitors stopped the whitewash by winning 21-13 against Jenny Cain.  Castletown A were also on form winning 4-2 (119-89) away to Onchan with Hilary Kermode for the Town ladies being the only player to win to single figures. Two winners for Onchan were Kay McKiernan who, after a hard fought game with Anne Oates, eventually won 21-20 and Jane Lothian who won to 15 against  Barbara Young.  Another solid 5-1 win was by Marown away to Castletown B (121-89) with Lynda Cadamy for the Crosby ladies winning to single figures.  Two winners for Castletown were Susan Kerruish who just edged Gill Christian 21-20 and Linda Dobinson who won to 17 against Celia Joughin.  South Ramsey A won 4-2 (110-80) at home to Breagle Glen B with Gillian Jopson and Elaine Moore winning to single figures for the home side.  Two winners for Breagle were Voirrey Curphey who won to 10 against Lorraine Moore and Alison Stockham to 16 against Anne Buck.  Peel Sunset made their way to Mooragh Park A and although Peel won the match 4-2, they lost on points (92-109) due mainly in part to the two winners for Mooragh, Janet Monk and Karen McGurgan, winning to low single figures.  Two close games saw Peel ladies Mary Moffatt and Terry Berry win to 20 and 19 against Pat Lenton and Diane Robinson.  On the Friday morning Ballaugh A were on resounding form winning 5-1 (118-69) away to Breagle Glen C with Rose Waterworth and Caroline Parker winning to single figures for the visitors. Lone winner for Breagle was Gwen Tuck who won to 13 against Michele Cubbon.

Morning of Thursday 14 May saw the Nobles ladies march on scoring a full house at home against Castletown B (126-56) with four of their wins being won to single figures.  The other two games were both won to 13.  Another strong performance saw Castletown A win 5-1 (122-76) at home against Breagle Glen C.  Hilary Kermode for the Town ladies was the only player to win to single figures with Gwen Tuck stopping the whitewash winning to 17 against Barbara Young.  Peel Sunset were also on form winning 5-1 (116-88) at home against Finch Hill with Terry Berry for the Peel ladies winning to single figures.  Lone winner for Finch was Wendy Cowin who won 21-11.  Breagle Glen A were at home to Mooragh Park A winning 4-2 (107-77).  Margaret Tasker and Angela Bennett for Breagle plus Janet Monk for Mooragh all won to single figures with the closest game being a 21-18 win for Mooragh’s Lynn Mayers.  South Ramsey B were at home to Ballaugh B and although match finished three all, South won on points (115-106) with South’s Sue Kinrade winning to single figures.  Closest games resulted in 21-19 wins for Ballaugh’s Brenda Bowyer and South’s Jackie Murley.  Onchan had a good 4-2 home win against Breagle Glen B (114-93) with Maureen Payne and Sue McCourt for the home side winning to single figures.  Breagle’s Alison Stockham and Rosemary Quirk for Onchan both won their games 21-18.  Ballaugh A were at home to neighbours South Ramsey A.  Match finishes three all but Ballaugh took the honours on points (100-90).  Christine MacDonald for Ballaugh and Judy Kelly for South both won to single figures with Joyce Ogden just crossing the line  21-18 ahead of Julie Reilly.  Marown visited a one player short Mooragh Park B.  Match finished 4-2 to Marown (105-62) with Celia Joughin and Elaine Dewhirst winning their games to single figures for the Crosby ladies.  Two winners for Mooragh were Shirley Corteen who won to 13 and Irene Cannan who won to single figures. 

This Tuesday morning heavy rain during the morning didn’t deter from some good games and results. Current leaders Nobles made their way to South Ramsey A coming away with a 4-2 win and by nine points (105-96).  Two winners for South were Elaine Moore who won to single figures and Gillian Jopson who won to 16.  Another close game resulted in a 21-16 win for Nobles lady, Paula Firth.  Marown were at home to Breagle Glen B; match finished three all but Marown won on points (100-80). Crosby ladies Philippa Taylor and Rosie Winckle plus Breagle’s Jacqui Elliott all won to single figures with Gwen Tuck being the other winner for Breagle just getting over the line 21-20 against Celia Joughin.  Ballaugh A visited a one player short Finch Hill winning 5-1 (118-59). Stopping a full house was Wendy Cowin who won to 13.  Closest game resulted in a 21-19 win for Alison Millard against Lil Smith.  Castletown B had a good 5-1 win (120-80) at home against Mooragh Park B with Town ladies Linda Dobinson and Pat Rigby winning to single figures.  Irene Goodall was Mooragh’s only winner winning 21-15.  Diane Robinson just missed out on winning another game for the visitors when she lost to 16.  Castletown A put in another solid performance away to Mooragh Park A winning the match 4-2 (113-73) with three of the Town ladies winning to single figures.  Two winners for Mooragh were Janet Monk who won to 10 and Karen McGurgan who won to 19.  Another strong performance saw Peel Sunset win 4-2 away a Ballaugh B (117-87) with Val Allwood and Shirley Corrin winning to single figures for the visitors.  Two winners for Ballaugh were Brenda Bowyer who just pipped Terry Berry 21-20 and Pat Mason who won to 13.  Breagle Glen A were on top form getting a full house at home against Onchan (126-88) with all games going into double figures.  Two closest games of the match saw Margaret Tasker cross the line 21-20 against Maureen Payne and Pauline Worrall winning to 18 against Sue McCourt.

Last Wednesday evening Marown A were on top form winning 9-0 away at Breagle Glen B (189-88) with four of Marown’s wins being won to single figures (three by 21-5 and the fourth 21-8).  Breagle’s Zoe Durcan was the closest to getting a win for her team when she lost to 16 against Jayne Smith.  Castletown B had a good 6-3 home win (163-132) against the Nobles ladies with Debra Cooper and Sue Peach winning to single figures for the home team.  Two close games resulted in 21-19 wins for Town’s Marie Ashurst against Keri Hampson and Barbara Young who came back from 18-7 down to win against Larna Colquitt.  Three winners for Nobles were Colese Creer, Joanne Kelly and Jo Smith.   Another strong  performance was by Breagle Glen A who won 8-1 (185-113) away to Marown B with three of the Breagle ladies winning to single figures.  Sole winner for Marown was Martha Butler who won to 18 against Angela Bennett.  Charlotte Clarke just missed out on winning another game for the Crosby ladies when she lost to 20 against Voirrey Curphey.   Castletown A won 6-3 away to Ballaugh A (165-133).  Stella Watterson and Rebecca Teare for the Town ladies plus Caroline Parker for Ballaugh all won to single figures with Maria Dimsdale nearly getting another win for Ballaugh when she lost to 17 against Amanda Lawler.  Mooragh Park put in a solid home performance winning 7-2 (170-99) against Ballaugh B with sisters Bailey and Shannon McMullan and Elaine Slack for the Mooragh plus Maggie Hughes for the Ballaugh ladies all winning to single figures.  The other winner for Ballaugh and with the closest scoreline was Elaine Fenton who won to 14 against Joy Morris.  South Ramsey was another team on good form winning 7-2  (172-119) at home against Peel Sunset with Jenny Moore and Gill Dixon winning their games to single figures for the south ladies.  Two winners for Peel were Louise Horsfall who won to 10 against Jackie Murley and Helen Cowley who beat Lorraine Moore 21-15.  Two nights later on the Friday evening, Breagle Glen A continued their good form winning 7-2, dropping only four points (185-114) against their B team with Angela Bennett and Margaret Tasker for the A ladies winning to single figures.  Two winners for the B ladies  were Anita Roberts who just pipped Jacqui Elliott 21-20 and Zoe Durcan who won to 18 against Linda Dawson.  Marown A were at home to South Ramsey with the Crosby ladies taking the honours 6-3 (169-144) with Jenny Moore for South and Clare Cooper for Marown winning to single figures.  Four close games saw Marown’s Philippa Taylor winning to 19 and Lynda Cadamy winning to 18 as did South’s Lauren Groen and Gill Dixon by the same scores respectively.  Ballaugh A recovered from their home defeat on the Wednesday evening by winning 5-4 (158-136) away to Peel Sunset with three of the Ballaugh ladies winning to single figures.  Two closest games of the match saw Maria Dimsdale for Ballaugh just edge Olivia Harrison 21-20 and Peel’s Shirley Corrin win to 17 against Rose Waterworth.  Marown B had a good 7-2 win (168-109) away to the Nobles Park ladies.  Lil Smith, Grace Cooper and Martha Butler for the Crosby ladies all won to single figures as did Joanne Kelly for Nobles.  The other winner for Nobles was Colese Creer who won to 12.  Ballaugh B were at home to Castletown B winning the match 5-4 (160-140).  Elaine Fenton and Rachel Thomas for Ballaugh plus Susan Kerruish for Castletown all won to single figures with Debra Cooper for the Town ladies just getting the better of Charlotte Neeson 21-16.  Mooragh Park hosted Douglas winning the match 5-4 (152-129).  Janet Monk and Shannon McMullan for Mooragh plus Harley Garrett and Katie Jacobs for the villa ladies all won to single figures with Emma Sayle just edging home greener Elaine Slack 21-20.

The Ladies Crown Green Bowling Association Top Lady competition was held at South Ramsey Bowling Club on Sunday is somewhat changeable weather conditions.  Format was changed slightly this year, in that 16 lady bowlers were invited to take part based on last season’s rankings. 

Getting through to the quarter finals were Gill Dixon (South Ramsey) who beat Hilary Kermode (Castletown A) 21-17;  Jenny Moore (South Ramsey) who beat her mum Elaine 21-13;  Bailey McMullan (Mooragh Park) who beat Rosie Winckle (Marown) 21-15;  Paula Garrett (Douglas) who beat Tracy Moore (Castletown A) 21-17;  Louise Tebay (Marown) who beat Lacey McMullan (Mooragh Park) 21-17;  Janet Monk (Mooragh Park) who beat Caroline Parker (Ballaugh A) 21-8;  Fiona Kennish (South Ramsey) who beat  Lynda Cadamy (Marown) 21-8, and Clare Cooper (Marown) who beat Stella Watterson (Castletown A) 21-10.

First quarter final pitted stablemates Jenny and Gill.  Jenny was a little too strong on the day for Gill winning 21-10.  Second quarter was a little tougher as Paula crossed the line 21-17 against Bailey.  Third quarter saw Louise make short work of her game against Janet winning 21-10 whilst the fourth quarter saw Clare, after a hard fought battle, win 21-18 against Fiona.

First semi was between Jenny and Paula.  Unfortunately for Paula, Jenny was getting into her stride and on end 17, Jenny led 19-10.  Despite Paula getting two singles and a double to bring the deficit back to 19-14, Jenny got the all important two on the 20^th end to win 21-14.  Second semi between Clare and Louise was mainly close all the way through with the score tied at 13 across on the 19^th end and like the other semi despite Louise getting another four points it wasn’t enough to stop Clare winning 21-17.

With both Clare and Jenny playing well, the final didn’t disappoint.  Clare started off very strongly leading 18-9 on the 21^st end, but never one for giving up Jenny fought back hard taking seven of the following eight ends to be one point behind Clare at 19-20.  A good second bowl on the next end by Clare was enough for her to take the win and title 21-19.  A great final with some exceptional bowling from both ladies.   Many congratulations to Clare on a well deserved win.

Presentation of trophy and prizes was made by Hilary Kermode, Ladies Association Committee member, who thanked South Ramsey for hosting the competition and providing much appreciated refreshments,  also thanking Clare Cooper and Jenny Moore, Competition Committee ably assisted by James Teare whilst Clare and Jenny were bowling, for the smooth running of the event before congratulating and handing over the trophy to Clare.

Open Age League :  On Friday evening, Castletown A having lost 7-2 to South Ramsey in the Jean Kelly Knockout the previous evening, returned the favour when they played South at home winning by the same scoreline 7-2 (177-149).  Jenny Saunders for the Town ladies was the only player to win to single figures with Gill Dixon and Kim Hargraves just missing out making the scoreline 5-4 when they both lost 21-20 to Amanda Lawler and Tracy Moore. The home derby between Marown A&B saw the A team in fine form scoring a full house (189-114) with  Philippa Taylor and Lyn Bolton being the only players to win to single figures.  Charlotte Clarke and Grace Cooper just missed out on wins for the B team when they lost to 17 and 18 against Rebekah Kelly and Helen Withers.  Peel ladies put in a good home performance against a player short Breagle Glen B winning the match 7-2 (179-84) with four of their ladies winning to single figures.  Two winners for Breagle were Anita Roberts who won to 16 against Diane Flemming and Voirrey Curphey who won to 16 against Jo Corkill.    Ballaugh B were home to Douglas winning 5-4 (167-160) in a well contested match.  All games went into double figures with the two closest games seeing Cody Smith and Emma Sayle for Douglas both winning 21-20 against Natalie Cubbon and Charlotte Neeson.  Mooragh Park had an impressive 7-2 away win at Nobles Park dropping only nine points (180-89) with five of Mooragh’s wins being won to single figures.  Two winners for Nobles were Jo Smith who won 21-16 against Bailey McMullan and Colese Creer who won 21-17 against Joy Morris.  Breagle Glen  A won 6-3 (164-131) at home against Castletown B with Kay Williams and Alison Stockham for the southern team and Aalish Moore for the Town ladies winning their games to single figures.  Closest game of the match resulted in a 21-20 win for Town’s Susan Kerruish against Jacqui Elliott.

Ladies Over 60s league : Fixture 10 of this season took place last Thursday morning resulting in two 6-0 wins.  First of these was by the Onchan ladies home to a one player short Mooragh Park B (126-35) with four wins being won to single figures. Closest game saw Onchan’s Sue McCourt win 21-11.  Second 6-0 win was by Castletown A at home to Finch Hill (126-38) with four of Castletown’s wins being won to single figures.  Closest game resulted in  21-14 win for Town’s Jenny Saunders.  Nobles put in a strong home performance against Breagle Glen B winning the match 5-1 dropping only one point (125-51).  As like Onchan and Castletown, four of the Nobles ladies won to single figures.  Lone winner for Breagle was Jenny Cain who won 21-20.  Another solid 5-1 home win was by Breagle Glen A against Ballaugh B (121-61) with three of the south ladies winning to single figures. Lil Smith for Finch plus Sue Collier and Sue Kinrade from South all won to single figures with the rest of the wins for both teams being won to low teens.  Breagle Glen B were on exceptional form winning 6-0 at home to a one player short Mooragh Park B (126-29) with all games being won to single figures.  The Nobles ladies put in a strong away performance at Marown winning 4-2 dropping nine points (117-64) with all four of the Nobles wins being  won to single figures.  Two winners for Marown were Lynda Cadamy who won to 17 and Rosie  Winckle who won to 16.  South Ramsey A were at home to Peel and although South won 4-2, they only won by 11 points (109-98) with  Elaine Moore for South and Val Allwood for Peel winning to single figures. Ballaugh A made their way south to Castletown ‘B’.  Ballaugh won 5-1 dropping only two points (124-114), but this was a well contested match as the lowest scoreline was 21-17.  Closest game saw Alison Millard for Ballaugh get the point  needed to win 21-20 against Elaine McElroy.  Castletown A travelled to Ballaugh B coming away with a solid 5-1 win dropping only three points (123-80).  Hilary Kermode for the Town ladies was the only player to win to single figures with Ballaugh’s sole winner, Gill Clarke, winning her game 21-18.  Home derby between Breagle C and A resulted in a full house for the A team (126-75) with Angela Bennett and Linda Dawson winning to single figures.  Closest score was a 21-17 win for Mavis Franks.

Quarter finals (handicaps in brackets) : Last Wednesday evening only one quarter-final was played with the remaining three being played on the following evening. This match was between Ballaugh A (+45) away to Breagle Glen B (+54) winning  5-4 and on points 210-185, with three of the Ballaugh ladies winning to single figures.  Closest game of the match saw Breagle’s Pauline Worrall just pip Rose Waterworth 21-19.  Thursday evening, reigning holders Castletown ‘A’ (+13) travelled north to South Ramsey (+18).  South put in a strong home performance winning the match 7-2 and by forty points192-152, with Jenny Moore for the south ladies and Amanda Lawler for the visitors both winning their games to single figures.  Closest game of the match was a 21-20 win for Town’s Stella Watterson against Gill Dixon.   Marown A (+24) travelled south to Breagle Glen A (+31) coming away with a solid 7-2 win and by fifteen points, 200-185.  Roz Cannon for Breagle and Crosby’s Jayne Smith both won to single figures with Katy Williams for the southern ladies and Lyn Bolton for Marown both crossing the line 21-20 against Clare Cooper and Nicola Cain.  Douglas (+47) were at home against Marown B (+60) with the home side winning 5-4, 213-192 with four of the games being won to single figures.  Closest game resulted in a 21-20 win for Marown’s Grace Cooper against Pauline Cowley.
