LADIES OPEN AGE LEAGUE

Last Wednesday evening Marown A were on top form winning 9-0 away at Breagle Glen B (189-88) with four of Marown’s wins being won to single figures (three by 21-5 and the fourth 21-8).  Breagle’s Zoe Durcan was the closest to getting a win for her team when she lost to 16 against Jayne Smith.  Castletown B had a good 6-3 home win (163-132) against the Nobles ladies with Debra Cooper and Sue Peach winning to single figures for the home team.  Two close games resulted in 21-19 wins for Town’s Marie Ashurst against Keri Hampson and Barbara Young who came back from 18-7 down to win against Larna Colquitt.  Three winners for Nobles were Colese Creer, Joanne Kelly and Jo Smith.   Another strong  performance was by Breagle Glen A who won 8-1 (185-113) away to Marown B with three of the Breagle ladies winning to single figures.  Sole winner for Marown was Martha Butler who won to 18 against Angela Bennett.  Charlotte Clarke just missed out on winning another game for the Crosby ladies when she lost to 20 against Voirrey Curphey.   Castletown A won 6-3 away to Ballaugh A (165-133).  Stella Watterson and Rebecca Teare for the Town ladies plus Caroline Parker for Ballaugh all won to single figures with Maria Dimsdale nearly getting another win for Ballaugh when she lost to 17 against Amanda Lawler.  Mooragh Park put in a solid home performance winning 7-2 (170-99) against Ballaugh B with sisters Bailey and Shannon McMullan and Elaine Slack for the Mooragh plus Maggie Hughes for the Ballaugh ladies all winning to single figures.  The other winner for Ballaugh and with the closest scoreline was Elaine Fenton who won to 14 against Joy Morris.  South Ramsey was another team on good form winning 7-2  (172-119) at home against Peel Sunset with Jenny Moore and Gill Dixon winning their games to single figures for the south ladies.  Two winners for Peel were Louise Horsfall who won to 10 against Jackie Murley and Helen Cowley who beat Lorraine Moore 21-15.  Two nights later on the Friday evening, Breagle Glen A continued their good form winning 7-2, dropping only four points (185-114) against their B team with Angela Bennett and Margaret Tasker for the A ladies winning to single figures.  Two winners for the B ladies  were Anita Roberts who just pipped Jacqui Elliott 21-20 and Zoe Durcan who won to 18 against Linda Dawson.  Marown A were at home to South Ramsey with the Crosby ladies taking the honours 6-3 (169-144) with Jenny Moore for South and Clare Cooper for Marown winning to single figures.  Four close games saw Marown’s Philippa Taylor winning to 19 and Lynda Cadamy winning to 18 as did South’s Lauren Groen and Gill Dixon by the same scores respectively.  Ballaugh A recovered from their home defeat on the Wednesday evening by winning 5-4 (158-136) away to Peel Sunset with three of the Ballaugh ladies winning to single figures.  Two closest games of the match saw Maria Dimsdale for Ballaugh just edge Olivia Harrison 21-20 and Peel’s Shirley Corrin win to 17 against Rose Waterworth.  Marown B had a good 7-2 win (168-109) away to the Nobles Park ladies.  Lil Smith, Grace Cooper and Martha Butler for the Crosby ladies all won to single figures as did Joanne Kelly for Nobles.  The other winner for Nobles was Colese Creer who won to 12.  Ballaugh B were at home to Castletown B winning the match 5-4 (160-140).  Elaine Fenton and Rachel Thomas for Ballaugh plus Susan Kerruish for Castletown all won to single figures with Debra Cooper for the Town ladies just getting the better of Charlotte Neeson 21-16.  Mooragh Park hosted Douglas winning the match 5-4 (152-129).  Janet Monk and Shannon McMullan for Mooragh plus Harley Garrett and Katie Jacobs for the villa ladies all won to single figures with Emma Sayle just edging home greener Elaine Slack 21-20.
