CLOSE AT THE TOP

Ladies Over 60s league : Fixture 10 of this season took place last Thursday morning resulting in two 6-0 wins.  First of these was by the Onchan ladies home to a one player short Mooragh Park B (126-35) with four wins being won to single figures. Closest game saw Onchan’s Sue McCourt win 21-11.  Second 6-0 win was by Castletown A at home to Finch Hill (126-38) with four of Castletown’s wins being won to single figures.  Closest game resulted in  21-14 win for Town’s Jenny Saunders.  Nobles put in a strong home performance against Breagle Glen B winning the match 5-1 dropping only one point (125-51).  As like Onchan and Castletown, four of the Nobles ladies won to single figures.  Lone winner for Breagle was Jenny Cain who won 21-20.  Another solid 5-1 home win was by Breagle Glen A against Ballaugh B (121-61) with three of the south ladies winning to single figures. Stopping the full house was Gill Clarke who won to 16.  Marown A travelled to Ballaugh A and although the Marown ladies won 4-2, they won by only one point (109-108) with all but one game scoring high points.  Two winners for Ballaugh were Christine McDonald who won 21-20 and Michele Cubbon who won to single figures. Home derby between South Ramsey B&A resulted in a 5-1 win for the ‘A’ team (119-68).  Stopping the ‘A’ team from getting a full house was Sue Collier who won 21-14.  Peel were home to Castletown B winning the match 4-2 (106-70) with three of the Peel ladies winning to single figures.  Closest game resulted in a 21-12 win for Town’s Susan Kerruish.  Mooragh Park A hosted Breagle Glen C and although the home side were a player short they managed to win 4-2 (96-68) with three of their ladies winning to single figures.  Closest game saw Gwen Tuck for Breagle win 21-12.  On Tuesday morning, South Ramsey B visited Finch Hill – match finished three all, but the south ladies won by five points (89-84). Lil Smith for Finch plus Sue Collier and Sue Kinrade from South all won to single figures with the rest of the wins for both teams being won to low teens.  Breagle Glen B were on exceptional form winning 6-0 at home to a one player short Mooragh Park B (126-29) with all games being won to single figures.  The Nobles ladies put in a strong away performance at Marown winning 4-2 dropping nine points (117-64) with all four of the Nobles wins being  won to single figures.  Two winners for Marown were Lynda Cadamy who won to 17 and Rosie  Winckle who won to 16.  South Ramsey A were at home to Peel and although South won 4-2, they only won by 11 points (109-98) with  Elaine Moore for South and Val Allwood for Peel winning to single figures. Peel’s Joyce Kelly had a tussle with Gillian Jopson eventually crossing the line 21-18.  Mooragh Park A hosted Onchan winning the  match 4-2 (102-71) with three of the Mooragh ladies winning to single figures.  Two winners for Onchan were Maureen Payne who also won to single figures and Jane Lothian who won to 10. Ballaugh A made their way south to Castletown ‘B’.  Ballaugh won 5-1 dropping only two points (124-114), but this was a well contested match as the lowest scoreline was 21-17.  Closest game saw Alison Millard for Ballaugh get the point  needed to win 21-20 against Elaine McElroy.  Castletown A travelled to Ballaugh B coming away with a solid 5-1 win dropping only three points (123-80).  Hilary Kermode for the Town ladies was the only player to win to single figures with Ballaugh’s sole winner, Gill Clarke, winning her game 21-18.  Home derby between Breagle C and A resulted in a full house for the A team (126-75) with Angela Bennett and Linda Dawson winning to single figures.  Closest score was a 21-17 win for Mavis Franks.
