LADIES OVER 60s LEAGUE
Morning of Thursday 14 May saw the Nobles ladies march on scoring a full house at home against Castletown B (126-56) with four of their wins being won to single figures. The other two games were both won to 13. Another strong performance saw Castletown A win 5-1 (122-76) at home against Breagle Glen C. Hilary Kermode for the Town ladies was the only player to win to single figures with Gwen Tuck stopping the whitewash winning to 17 against Barbara Young. Peel Sunset were also on form winning 5-1 (116-88) at home against Finch Hill with Terry Berry for the Peel ladies winning to single figures. Lone winner for Finch was Wendy Cowin who won 21-11. Breagle Glen A were at home to Mooragh Park A winning 4-2 (107-77). Margaret Tasker and Angela Bennett for Breagle plus Janet Monk for Mooragh all won to single figures with the closest game being a 21-18 win for Mooragh’s Lynn Mayers. South Ramsey B were at home to Ballaugh B and although match finished three all, South won on points (115-106) with South’s Sue Kinrade winning to single figures. Closest games resulted in 21-19 wins for Ballaugh’s Brenda Bowyer and South’s Jackie Murley. Onchan had a good 4-2 home win against Breagle Glen B (114-93) with Maureen Payne and Sue McCourt for the home side winning to single figures. Breagle’s Alison Stockham and Rosemary Quirk for Onchan both won their games 21-18. Ballaugh A were at home to neighbours South Ramsey A. Match finishes three all but Ballaugh took the honours on points (100-90). Christine MacDonald for Ballaugh and Judy Kelly for South both won to single figures with Joyce Ogden just crossing the line 21-18 ahead of Julie Reilly. Marown visited a one player short Mooragh Park B. Match finished 4-2 to Marown (105-62) with Celia Joughin and Elaine Dewhirst winning their games to single figures for the Crosby ladies. Two winners for Mooragh were Shirley Corteen who won to 13 and Irene Cannan who won to single figures.
This Tuesday morning heavy rain during the morning didn’t deter from some good games and results. Current leaders Nobles made their way to South Ramsey A coming away with a 4-2 win and by nine points (105-96). Two winners for South were Elaine Moore who won to single figures and Gillian Jopson who won to 16. Another close game resulted in a 21-16 win for Nobles lady, Paula Firth. Marown were at home to Breagle Glen B; match finished three all but Marown won on points (100-80). Crosby ladies Philippa Taylor and Rosie Winckle plus Breagle’s Jacqui Elliott all won to single figures with Gwen Tuck being the other winner for Breagle just getting over the line 21-20 against Celia Joughin. Ballaugh A visited a one player short Finch Hill winning 5-1 (118-59). Stopping a full house was Wendy Cowin who won to 13. Closest game resulted in a 21-19 win for Alison Millard against Lil Smith. Castletown B had a good 5-1 win (120-80) at home against Mooragh Park B with Town ladies Linda Dobinson and Pat Rigby winning to single figures. Irene Goodall was Mooragh’s only winner winning 21-15. Diane Robinson just missed out on winning another game for the visitors when she lost to 16. Castletown A put in another solid performance away to Mooragh Park A winning the match 4-2 (113-73) with three of the Town ladies winning to single figures. Two winners for Mooragh were Janet Monk who won to 10 and Karen McGurgan who won to 19. Another strong performance saw Peel Sunset win 4-2 away a Ballaugh B (117-87) with Val Allwood and Shirley Corrin winning to single figures for the visitors. Two winners for Ballaugh were Brenda Bowyer who just pipped Terry Berry 21-20 and Pat Mason who won to 13. Breagle Glen A were on top form getting a full house at home against Onchan (126-88) with all games going into double figures. Two closest games of the match saw Margaret Tasker cross the line 21-20 against Maureen Payne and Pauline Worrall winning to 18 against Sue McCourt.
