Still All to Play For In Ladies Open Age League
Ladies Open Age League: Friday evening, South Ramey put in a strong home performance against Breagle Glen A winning the match 8-1 dropping only one point. Sole winner for Breagle was Nicci Cain, who after a tough game with Sue Collier, won 21-20. Two other close games in favour of South saw Fiona Kennish and Gillian Jopson both winning 21-20 against Caroline Whitehead and Mavis Franks. Ballaugh A were at home to Mooragh Park taking the match 6-3. Ballaugh’s Christine McDonald and Maria Dimsdale both won 21-16 against Lacey McMullan and Martha Blencoe, with Mooragh’s Janet Monk also winning to the same score against Louise Tebay. Douglas ladies also won 6-3 at home to Ballaugh B with five games being won to single figures – four for Douglas and one for Ballaugh. A nip and tuck game resulted in a 21-20 win for Yvonne Ward against Douglas’s Rebecca Jacobs. Nobles made their way south to Breagle Glen B coming away with a 5-4 win. Angela Bennett for Breagle and Jo Smith for Nobles both won to single figures with Karolina Urbaniak for Breagle crossing the line 21-17 against Tina Hampson. Another 5-4 win was scored by Peel away to Castletown B with two games for Peel being won to single figures. Closest game saw Peel’s Beverely Wilson run out 21-18 against Melody Marsh. Match between Marown A and Marown B to be rearranged. With only two fixtures left to play Castletown A are currently top on 3,888 points followed by Ballaugh A on 3,464 and South Ramsey on 3,452. With Marown still having four matches to play due to rearrangements, it is still all to play for as they are currently on 3,284 – should be an interesting end to the season!
