HOME DERBY WIN FOR BALLAUGH A

Ladies Open Age: Friday evening’s match between Ballaugh A and B resulted in a full house for the A team (189-90) with five of their wins being won to single figures. The B team just missed out on a win when Sandra Buckeridge lost to 19 against Gail Corrin. Two other close games saw Elena Dimsdale win 21-17 against Elaine Fenton and Rose Waterworth winning to 16 against Julie Cannon. Castletown A also put in a strong performance when they made the short journey to Breagle Glen B coming away with maximum points (189-97). Town’s Hilary Kermode had a good battle against Ros Cannon eventually winning to 19 whilst Kim Foy, Tracy Moore and Amanda Lawler all won to single figures. Nobles visited neighbours Douglas winning 6-3 and by 28 points (140-168). Jo Smith and Sue Gawne for Nobles plus Paula Garrett for Douglas all won their games to single figures. Douglas’s Erin Quayle had a good tussle with Tina Hampson winning 21-20 with Jo Kelly for Nobles winning to the same score against Katie Jacobs. Breagle Glen A were away to Castletown B winning 5-4 and by 17 points (157-140). Breagle’s Nicci Cain plus Town’s Jo Robert both won to single figures with Melody Marsh and Marie Ashurst for Town and Breagle’s Kay Primrose-Smith all having tough games before winning to 14, 18 and 16 respectively against Chris Holland, Chrissy Woodward and Sue Kerruish. Marown A put in a solid performance at home against Peel winning 6-3 (173-98) with four of the Crosby ladies wins being won to single figures. Three winners for Peel were Mary Moffatt who won to 17 against Grace Cooper; Louise Horsfall who won to 11 against Philippa Taylor and Shirley Corrin who won to 19 against Lyn Bolton. South Ramsey were at home against neighbours Mooragh Park winning the match 6-3 (156-116). Lauren Groen, Sue Collier and Fiona Kennish for South plus Mooragh’s Bailey and Lacey McMullan all won to single figures. The third winner for Mooragh was the other McMullan sister, Madison, who pipped Joyce Ogden to the post 21-18. Rearranged match from fixture 9 between Peel at home to Mooragh Park was played on Tuesday 27 May resulting in a 5-4 win for Peel (163-146). Mooragh’s Madison McMullan was the only player to win to single figures with Celia Smith for Peel just missing out on another win for her team when she lost to 20 against Bailey McMullan.
